Reasons to Love this Oven Roasted Broccolini

Steamed broccoli called - and it wants a little excitement in its life. 😏

If you're tired of bland, soggy greens on the side of your dinner plate, this oven-roasted broccolini is your new BFF. (Okay, that's a little extreme, but hear me out.)

It's everything steamed broccoli wishes it could be: crisp-tender, garlicky, and just a little spicy from a pinch of red pepper flakes.

With only 2 minutes of hands-on prep and a handful of real ingredients, you'll have a side dish that your kids will actually eat.

It's simple, nourishing, and proof that veggies don't have to be boring. I personally go for the burnt brown edges but then again, I also crisp up chicken in my air fryer to make chicken skin chips so I love anything salty, crispy, and a little too toasty.

    Ingredients for Oven Roasted Broccolini

Ingredients for roasted broccolini on a white tabletop.
    • Broccolini – Choose fresh, bright green stalks with firm stems and tight florets. Trim the ends before roasting for even cooking and tender bites.
    • Avocado oil – Coats the broccolini evenly and helps it roast to golden, crisp-tender perfection while adding a mild, buttery flavor.
    • Seasonings – A blend of garlic powder, sea salt, and red pepper flakes brings the balance of savory, salty, and lightly spicy notes that make roasted broccolini so flavorful. Adjust the heat level to your liking.

    Make it Ancestral

Use quality avocado oil or melted ghee for healthy, stable fats. Sprinkle unrefined sea salt or mineral-rich salt for trace nutrients. Serve the roasted broccolini alongside grass-fed steak or wild-caught salmon, and add a spoonful of fermented vegetables or a drizzle of lemon for extra enzymes and digestive support.

How to Make Oven Roasted Broccolini

The complete printable recipe is below in the recipe card for your convenience. Follow these simple step-by-step instructions for the best results.

    Broccolini on a baking sheet.

    Step 1. Toss

Spread the cleaned and trimmed broccolini evenly on a rimmed baking sheet, then toss with avocado oil, garlic powder, sea salt, and red pepper flakes to coat.

Seasoned broccolini on a baking sheet.

    Step 2. Roast

Roast the broccoli in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.

    Helpful Tips

    1. Make sure to dry the broccolini thoroughly before roasting to ensure it crisps up nicely in the oven. After washing it, I like to dry it thoroughly using a salad spinner or laying it on a kitchen towel.
    2. For an extra crispy texture, try broiling the broccolini towards the end of the roasting time. And make sure you are not overcrowding it on the baking sheet. Spread it out evenly and avoid stacking.
    3. Broccolini cooks quickly, so be sure to check it around the 10-minute mark to avoid overcooking.

    Troubleshooting

    • Too dry? Add a drizzle of avocado oil or melted ghee before serving to bring back moisture and shine.
    • Not browning? Consider throwing under the broiler for a few minutes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I store and reheat oven roasted broccolini?

Place any leftover roasted broccolini in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm it in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes or until heated through.

    Can I freeze roasted broccolini?

To freeze, spread the cooled broccolini on a baking sheet to freeze individually, then transfer to a freezer bag. Thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Roasted broccolini is best fresh, but you can prep it in advance by washing, trimming, and seasoning. Roast just before serving for the best texture and flavor.
