Hi there! I'm Anya and I'm so pleased you are here.

For as long as I can remember, I loved creating recipes in the kitchen. So in 2014, on the heels of a family vacation to Russia, I started Prepare & Nourish to share traditionally prepared and ancestral recipes that have long lost their luster in the west.

You can read more about me here, but to summarize, I love real food and how it can bring people together and profoundly bless those around us.

    New to traditionally prepared foods?

The sad reality is that Standard American Diet (SAD) is characterized by a high intake of processed and refined foods and is void of nutrition.

Conversely, traditionally prepared foods are often considered more nutritious and easier to digest. These foods are made using traditional cooking methods and ingredients passed down through generations in specific cultures.

Grandmothers do indeed know best, don't they?

Traditionally prepared foods are commonly made from whole, minimally processed ingredients and use ancestral preparation techniques such as fermentation, soaking, and sprouting.

If you're entirely new to the idea of real, whole, and nourishing food, may I point you to this post that defines what nourishing foods are and gives you eight simple tips to help you? You can also check out my Shop page, where I share my favorite resources for ingredients, cookware, books, and more.

    Nourishing pillars

Ancestral recipes begin with healthy basics like deeply nourishing bone broth, gut-healthy fermented foods, and nutrient-dense organ meats (or offal recipes).

I recommend checking out the Fermentation Recipes and Healthy Basics where you'll find recipes like these:

    • beef bone broth in mason jars.
